01 Jan Warren Township Approves Affordable Housing Settlement
The Warren Township Committee approved on October 10, 2018, a settlement agreement with the Fair Share Housing Center, the organization charged to negotiate affordable housing for the state of New Jersey. Details of the meeting were reported in detail by TAPintoWarren. The vote was 4:1.
The vote means that the Township agrees “to provide for, but not necessarily build, 362 affordable units and 616 market-rate units by 2025.”
The details of the settlement agreement were negotiated in secret and a great many residents expressed concerns about traffic, over development and the fact that the plan was secret until approved.
Included in the 362 “affordable units” were 36 on 10 acres of Township-owned land on the former Wagner Farm.
